XXIII Feria del Libro 2012 Coín

The Concejalías de Cultura y Educación del Ayuntamiento de Coín have organized the XXIII Feria del Libro with a schedule full of activities for all residents. This edition is dedicated to the memory of Fuensanta Jiménez González, La Jimena, local flamenco singer who last year celebrated the centenary of her birth.

The opening of the feria is scheduled for Tuesday 17th April at 10.30am in the Casa de la Cultura for schools in the town, is focused on La Jimena as well as a dedicated TV special on the 23rd at 22.00 hours on Canal Coín Tv.

This edition of the feria highlights the organisation of the First Local Book Fair on 23rd April in plaza Alameda, an occasion on which residents can purchase signed copies of books by local authors. During the day there are parallel activities planned to highlight the event including the shared reading of texts by Manuel Alcántara and Emilia Prados. This event will be held in many towns of Malaga at the same time and at 11am the prize giving will begin to delivered awards for the best adult and child readers at the City Library as well as announcing the winners of the Certamen de Mensajes de Amor.

Also taking place will be the inauguration of the library built on plaza Alameda. The program 'Libros por el mundo' will also be celebrated at this time.

Cine club de la Generación 27

The cinema club on Tuesday 17th at 20:00 in the edificio de Servicios Sociales will screen the film 'Sueño de Amor eterno' (1935) and it will be moderated by film specialist Juan Maldonado. This activity is part of the Circuito del Centro Andaluz de las Letras.

The Escuela de Adultos will offer two workshops on legends and the history of Coín on the 20th in the morning at the Convento de Santa María. Two publications, 'La Praxis femenina' by Aurora Gámez and the digital catalogue Exposición Bellas con Arte, will be promoted on Friday 20th 20:00 in the Convento.
