Members of the Consorcio Provincial de Bomberos de Málaga and the Protección Civil stablised the fire late in the afternoon on Thursday. The fire took place at the zona de matorral en el paraje de Loma Negra. The fires threatened the the north zone of the urbanización Bahía de las Rocas, although there was no need to evict the residents.
A neighbor alerted the urbanization using the 112 Emergency System around 16:00, where a fire was declared.
Soon three helicopters, two airplanes, one of them to coordinate the work of extinguishing the fire, seven special groups, two pump vehicles and a brigade of technicians from Infoca arrived.
Hours later they were joined by firefighters from Ronda, Marbella and several municipalities of Cádiz. A helicopter cooled the area the Infoca had worked on. The technical board today assessed the damage caused by the flames.
The Mayor of Manilva, who was informed at all times of all steps being taken, reassured the public that "despite these environmental accidents that concern us all, our confidence in firefighters, civil defense and public safety bodies is absolute and once again they have been able to control the fire without any damage to both homes and neighbors."
