The Ayuntamiento have invested in security, to help preserve Benahavís’s reputation as a “safe” neighbourhood. But please remember, in the current economic climate it is especially important that everyone remains vigilant. Specific building projects have included the Ayuntamiento approval of complete finance and land allocation to build the Guardia Civil barracks and headquarters.

In addition the local police have benefited from a move to a larger station above the village. And, in 2010 the local police numbers were boosted from around 12 to 21 officers.

Both forces currently host regular meetings with forces from all over the coast to help coordinate and disseminate information on security.

The Judicial system (the Justice of the Peace) is run and paid by the Ayuntamiento by way of providing the facilities, the personnel and transport to ensure a smooth running of the Justice of the Peace process.

In addition the Ayuntamiento make an annual investment of around €350,000 to ensure a significant and improved fire brigade presence in the municipality.
